Twitter gives celebrities with over 1 million followers free blue ‘tick’

Twitter blue ticks: Twitter has reinstated legacy verified blue checkmarks to high-profile accounts, including those of celebrities, journalists, and a university, without them having to pay for Twitter Blue subscriptions. While some were happy to see their verified status reinstated, others, including actor Ben Schwartz and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, claim that they did not sign up for Twitter Blue. Comedian Chrissy Teigen tweeted her disdain when she discovered that the blue verification checkmark is now being given as a form of punishment, which she referred to as a "badge of shame.
